Outside of a few big names, there are still many top players available in MLB’s free agency.

For some reason, we have entered a lull in free agency where many players are not signing.

But, you can bet teams are starting to position themselves for some of these star players.

One name that we have heard nothing of is San Diego Padres closer Josh Hader.

The lefty is one of the best closers in baseball and he is in line for a massive contract.

According to Jim Bowden via B/R Walk-Off, Hader is looking for a contract larger than the one Edwin Diaz received.

That deal was for five years, $102 million.

Last season, Hader was arguably the best closer in baseball in San Diego.

He threw 56.1 innings with an ERA of 1.28 and accumulated 33 saves.

Also, in those 56.1 innings, he struck out 85 batters.

Any contending team in need of bullpen help should be interested in Hader.

He is one of the best in the business and deserves a lofty contract.

It will be interesting to see which teams make a play for him.

One team that should at least be interested is the Philadelphia Phillies.

They lost closer Craig Kimbrel in free agency, and they need someone dominant at the back end of their bullpen.

Also, the defending World Series champion Texas Rangers need some help in their bullpen.

It would make sense for them to look into Hader.

Hader seems to be in the market for the best contract possible, whichever team offers that will likely get his services.
