Yoshinobu Yamamoto has been introduced to the world as a new Los Angeles Dodgers player.

He agreed to sign a 12-year, $325 million contract that will keep him in LA, at least theoretically, until he is 37.

He will be joining his countryman Shohei Ohtani in the Dodgers’ exciting project, as well as other established stars like Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Walker Buehler, and more.

Yamamoto has offered the world his first words as a member of the Dodgers.

He didn’t hide his excitement and happiness for being a Dodger, and also said things that fans love to see and hear.

“Yamamoto not backing away from the spotlight: ‘I will stop simply admiring the players that I’ve looked up to but rather strive to become the player that others want to become,’” MLB writer Rowan Kavner tweeted.

That’s music to fans’ ears.

Some of the best and most famous MLB players are revered and admired in Japan.

Yamamoto certainly enjoys watching them.

However, he is now in a position to become one of the players people admire the most.

He has all the talent in the world and the tools to succeed, starting from incredible stuff, impeccable command, and a lot of experience in Japan and the international stage.

He was brilliant in the World Baseball Classic this year, becoming a key member of the rotation that gave Japan a record third title.

He was also lights out in the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) 2023 season, with a 1.21 ERA in 164 innings with the Orix Buffaloes.

With a career 1.82 ERA in Japan and lots of accolades, Yamamoto could be a frontline pitcher for the Dodgers for years to come.
